Happy birthday, AJ! We were so excited to meet you and spend the day celebrating the amazing little person you’ve become in the past year. We decided to spend the last few days of warmth (…if you can still call it that!) to give you the nicest birthday EVER and take you to my absolute-favorite place: the beach!
We set up camp on the shores of Lake Erie to hang out and catch some waves. The light was perfect and the waves were cool when we stuck our toes in the water. The beach is prettiest in the autumn with the leaves changing colors all over Edgewater Park and the people all snuggled up and warm with each other, walking around and doing their daily business. In the summer, people take some time to relax and sit and play fetch with their dogs (my pups LOVE the beach! And all the stinky fish that come to shore). In the fall, though, people forget to spend time to lay in the sun and play with their dogs as much.
AJ, we want you to remember to take the time to lay in the sun and play with your furry (and human!) friends whenever you get the chance, regardless of what time of year it is. There’s beauty in every season and every place, and we want you to see it from your first year to your fifty-first year (and all the years to come). Enjoy the orange leaves and the pumpkins and the cool water on your toes; enjoy the last taste of summer. Enjoy the person you’re becoming. We know that we’re enjoying the person you’re becoming every single day, and we can’t wait until your second birthday to see just how much you’ve grown and changed. We just hope you always stay a beach boy!
