My Sweet Dakota,
On your first birthday, little love, I have two words… you ready for these?! Praise God.
Praise God for this beautiful year that started with lowest lows and, yet, contained the highest highs.
Praise God for the perfect, strong body you were given. A body that has no trace of a long road in the hospital.
Praise God for the kind of miraculous healing that points solely to Him. You are proof- living proof- that God makes all things work together for our good.
Praise God for the divine protection He put around you during your NICU stay. Not only in your doctors, but in your nurses as well.
Praise God for the family that He chose for you. These people love you with a fierce unconditional love like no other. Make no mistake, they were hand picked by our Father for you.
Praise God that we can stand in your kitchen during a snow storm, laughing as a family. With the people who adore you- from every corner of the country- there chuckling as we celebrate you.
Praise God that He allowed me not only to be a witness to the beautiful work He has done in you, but to have the voice to tell others of His goodness through your story.
You did it. You made it through a year that had the odds stacked against you beautiful baby girl. The gratitude we feel runs deep, and I know it will only get stronger with each passing year. And I look forward to the day when you look back on these images, these experiences, and see that you are an extraordinary child of the Lord, having the very best childhood that a girl could imagine.
Thank you for all that you have taught me this year Dakota, Jewel, Peyton, Demi & JR. It’s been an amazing ride. I am grateful to all of you for making a part of your family this year. I don’t know about you, but I am thrilled to see what blessings 2018 brings for your family! You know I’ll be there capturing it all for you as we watch these little ladies grow.
