There is so much to say. Your story isn’t just now beginning, but rather, began a nearly 2 years ago with the arrival of your big sister- Evie.
Evie was called home to the Lord a short 58 minutes after her arrival. But she rocked our world hard & now lives on in our hearts, minds, smiles and by the selfless decision of organ donation by your parents.
When Christ calls a child home, it’s easy to celebrate a new baby as somebody to fill the void. Let me assure you young man, you are not a void filler. We will miss her every single day.
But if you’re not a replacement, a filler of the void or a way for those who don’t understand to justify the loss of your big sister… then who are you?
You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
You are the miraculous story of grace and mercy.
You are an example of Christ’s love.
You are a bright light shining in a dim time.
You are not here in place of your big sister- you are here because of her.
You are the reason why we will enjoy this Earth- while we await Heaven.
You are a gift unlike any other.
And you are loved my little friend. Loved beyond words.
There will be times where your parents are still sad about your sister. Certain days hit hard. But I believe you were given to us to remind us just how much God loves us. He lost a child too. He knows exactly how hard that blow is. And He planted in you the seeds to help calm the sad moments, to help heal the broken hearts and to be an example of what unconditional love looks like.
Thomas, you are unlike any other. Made in the image of God. And we are so so SOOO pumped to see what’s next in your life!
